We understand that each individual is unique, and so are their ear care needs. Our patient-centric approach ensures that the ear wax removal process is tailored to your specific requirements.

Understanding ear wax

Ear wax, or cerumen, is a natural substance produced by the ear to protect and lubricate the ear canal. While it typically moves towards the ear opening, where it dries up and falls out, some individuals may experience a build-up that can lead to various issues, including hearing loss.

The impact of excessive ear wax

Excessive ear wax can cause discomfort, leading to hearing loss, earache, itchy ears, or feeling dizzy or sick. And can even lead to tinnitus (ringing or buzzing in the ears). It's crucial to address this issue promptly to prevent complications and ensure optimal ear health.

Professional ear wax removal

Trying to remove excess ear wax yourself can often make things worse. Sticking your finger or a cotton bud into your ear may remove some wax, but you will end up pushing the rest of it further into your ear. You will also be moving the hair cells in the ear and stimulating the body to produce more wax. Excess ear wax removal should be left to the professionals.

Using advanced tools and equipment, we ensure precision and effectiveness in ear wax removal. Our commitment to staying abreast of the latest technologies underscores our dedication to providing high-quality care.

We believe in empowering our clients with knowledge about ear health. Our professionals offer you guidance on preventive measures and the signs of potential ear wax issues, fostering proactive ear care habits.

Whether you're experiencing symptoms of excessive ear wax or seeking preventive care, our team at Fairfield Hearing is here to help.

How we remove earwax

We first examine your ear through a medical-grade microscope. Then, depending on the outcome of a careful procedural questionnaire, we remove the wax either by air suction, water irrigation, or one of several manual techniques.

We take photographs both before and after. Should any medical concerns be noted, we share these with you and will then, with your permission, forward them to your GP, consultant ENT specialist or other appropriate medical professional.
